The School of Health joins the international ProPEDeAMCI project

The School of Health of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (E2S | P.PORTO) has joined the international ProPEDeAMCI project, an initiative that aims to enhance cognitive and physical functioning in individuals with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), Alzheimer's disease, and other dementias.

With a duration of 36 months, the project focuses on promoting structured and adapted physical exercise as a way of responding to the challenges associated with cognitive impairment. ProPEDeAMCI focuses on the development and implementation of Physical Education programmes tailored to the needs of these individuals, seeking to maximise the positive impact on their quality of life.

The main objectives of the project include the knowledge exchange, the development of guidelines, the creation of an online platform, the development of specialised training programmes, and the dissemination of results to the scientific community, health professionals, and society in general.

E2S is directly involved in this project through the active participation of professors Raquel Simões Almeida, António Marques, Maria João Trigueiro, and Paula Portugal, who are part of the research team.
