Marine cyanobacteria are prolific producers of structurally diverse natural metabolites with significant potential for pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and biotechnological applications. Marine Cyanobacteria also offer opportunities for sustainable exploitation, including the valorization of pigments for food, cosmetics and textiles. Advances in cultivation, metabolic engineering and bioprocessing are key to unlocking this potential.
This Special Issue welcomes original research and review articles on the discovery, characterization, bioactivity and sustainable exploitation of natural products from marine cyanobacteria. Topics include novel metabolite identification, biosynthetic pathway elucidation, synthetic biology approaches, pigment utilization and translational applications, providing a comprehensive perspective on their valorization and biotechnological potential.
The submission deadline is 31 March 2026.
