Artemisa R Dores

Research interests: Reabilitação neurocognitiva, tecnologias digitais aplicadas à saúde, jogo / jogo patológico, uso problemático da internet e comunicação clínica.

 

Biographical Note

She holds a PhD in Biomedical Sciences (Cognitive and Affective Neurosciences, 2012) and a Master’s degree in Psychology - Cognitive Sciences (2003). She graduated in Psychology (1999) with a specialization in Clinical and Health and completed a postdoc in Psychology (Psychobiological Approach to Pathological and Problematic Gambling, 2018). She is a certified specialist in Clinical and Health Psychology and Neuropsychology by the OPP. She holds the provisional Certificate of Specialist Clinical in Neuropsychology, as established by the Provisional Specialist European Awarding Committee (P-SEAC) in Clinical Neuropsychology and implemented by the Provisional Specialist National Awarding Committee (P-SNAC).

Since 2022, she has been a Coordinator Professor of Psychology at E2S | P.PORTO, where she has worked since 2000, and visiting Professor at various institutions, such as FPCEUP, FMUP, and UCP. She has served as Coordinator of the Social and Human Sciences Department since 2003 and has led the Professional Higher Technical Course in Health Care and Well-being since 2021. She was a founding member of the Student Psychological Office, which she coordinated for six years, and coordinated the postgraduate program in Neurological Rehabilitation in Acquired Brain Injury (2016/17). Additionally, she has been an active member of various management bodies (e.g., Technical-Scientific Council). 

Currently, she serves as a member of the Technical Committee of the Interministerial Council for Addictive Behaviours and Dependencies, representing the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, and as a member of the Internship Committee of the Portuguese Psychologists' Association Internship Committee of the Portuguese Psychologists' Association (April 2025–2027).

She is an integrated member of the Rehabilitation Research Center - Psychosocial Rehabilitation Laboratory since 2009, she has also been an Associate Member of the Neuropsychophysiology Laboratory (FPCEUP) since 2016, in which she coordinates the research line in Behavioural Addictions. Her research focuses on cognitive and affective neurosciences, neurocognitive rehabilitation, technologies applied to health and digital well-being and behavioural addictions, participating in (inter)national projects funded by competitive grants. She has contributed as a member or scientific advisor (e.g., national representative and management committee member of COST CA16207 – Problematic Usage of the Internet, selected by the FCT) and, currently, in BootStRaP: Boosting Societal Adaptation and Mental Health in a Rapidly Digitalizing, Post-Pandemic Europe. She serves as the principal investigator in a project under the Science4Policy 2024 call, an initiative promoted by the Centre for Planning and Evaluation of Public Policies and Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), among several funded projects, such as Lab2Fab: We Turn Science & Technology into Business (COMPETE2030-2024-6), PRODROMUS – A digital phenotyping enhanced just-in-time adaptive intervention for preventing people at ultra-high risk, clinical high risk, or with first-episode psychosis from transitioning to psychosis (FLAD); IAPMEI - National Network of Test Beds (2021-1-BE02-KA220-VET-000034849); ForPharmacy - Future pharmacy as a plug-and-play ecosystem POCI-01-0247-FEDER-070053); TIPS - Project "Trauma-Informed Practice for Workers in Public Service Settings - TIPS" (ERASMUS +); Therapy2.0 - eCounselling and Therapeutic Interactions with Digital Natives (ERASMUS+). She is involved in the INNOVHEALTH course: Innovation in the Development of Technological and Digital Solutions in Health, at the E2S | P.PORTO, integrated into the P.PORTO Resilient – Youth Impulse of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), specialization track – Rehabilitation – aimed at empowering professionals in the creation of innovative health solutions, among others courses.

Her research has earned awards at specialized congresses, and her findings are published in peer-reviewed papers indexed in WoS and SCOPUS, and in books/book chapters. She supervises PhD/Master’s theses on neuropsychological rehabilitation and behavioural addictions. She serves on the boards/supervisory committees of scientific societies, such as SPNPsy, SP3CS, and RACS and is an editor of special issues in indexed journals. She has also been invited to serve as a stakeholder in initiatives such as the Pompidou Group’s project - Promoting Mental Health of Children and Youth by Addressing the Risks of Online Gambling and Gaming.

Public and patient involvement (PPI) and co-creation have been integral to all her projects, particularly in technological development and digital well-being. She has contributed to raising public awareness through videos (e.g., available on the Net&ME website), talks at associations and schools, media dissemination, and collaborations with companies to promote translational science. Examples include partnerships with NeuronUP (translation, adaptation, and validation of the platform to European Portuguese), Glintt – Healthcare solutions, and the ANF - National Association of Pharmacies (POCI-01-0247-FEDER-070053).
