The School of Health of the Polytechnic University of Porto will be opening a new MSc program in Translational Health (MiTH Program).

The newly MiTH Program was designed to address the challenges of translating basic research results into healthcare, population health, and bioindustries. The goal of this master's program is to bridge the gap between basic research and practical applications, providing students with the tools and knowledge to develop applied and translational research, necessary to designing innovative solutions in healthcare, population health, and bioindustries. It firmly adheres to the principle of "from bench to bedside and back", which we reinforce and expand to "from bench to bedside, and beyond and back". Our program emphasizes multidisciplinary collaboration, respecting the highest standards of scientific, ethical, academic, and professional quality, which are fundamental for translational research in the health field, while developing a global perspective on health problems in the world.

The MiTH Program adopts a blended learning format, combining face-to-face and e-learning sessions:

The first 4 weeks of the 1st semester are conducted in person to welcome students, including international students. During this period, students receive orientation about the program, presentation of research lines for dissertations, and planning of laboratory rotations in the 2nd semester. Visits to the School of Health and research laboratories, along with presentations from collaborating research centers, also take place.

Weeks 5-10 of the 1 st semester occur remotely to allow for greater learning flexibility, promoting self-directed learning skills and critical thinking.

Weeks 11-15 of the 1 st semester return to face-to-face teaching, prioritizing practical or applied content and final evaluations.

Weeks 1-6 of the 2 nd semester are conducted remotely.

Weeks 7-15 of the 2 nd semester are in person, including laboratory practices, guided discussions, assessments, and opportunities to discuss, design, and plan the dissertation.
